innovatis AG Bielefeld and Bayer Technology Services Leverkusen conclude strategic alliance

Online analysis for the biopharmaceutical industry

18-Dec-2008 - Germany

innovatis AG and Bayer Technology Services GmbH (BTS) have signed a cooperation agreement on production and global sales for BaychroMAT® system solutions. According to the company, with this technology developed by BTS and integration of innovatis equipment, process-critical parameters such as cell count, protein concentration, typical cell metabolites, and nutrient content can now be measured online using a sterile sample port. Such parameters could previously only be measured by performing timeconsuming and elaborate laboratory analyses. For the first time, this modular platform enables fermentation processes to be controlled fully automatically even on a large scale.

In forming this partnership, the companies are responding to global efforts to automate analytical processes. BaychroMAT® system solutions provide the basis for optimizing manufacturing processes for biopharmaceutical drugs. When it comes to quality and reproducibility, the fully automatic process control provided by BaychroMAT® system solutions is essential for implementing the operational excellence concept in biopharmaceutical processes.

“This process analysis bioplatform makes our two companies the world’s only manufacturers to have produced an all-in-one solution of this kind,” says Michael Grohmann, member of the Management Board of innovatis AG.

The cooperation agreement between innovatis and BTS was concluded to support the pharmaceutical industry, implement process analysis projects and thus meet the demand for “Quality by Design” in production and process development urged by the US-Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in the Process Analyzer Technology initiative. Both companies will see them adding further components to the BaychroMAT® bioplatform.
