Eppendorf expands manufacturing in the U.S.
The Eppendorf AG is going to establish a new production site in the U.S. in order to supply its laboratory products at the point of demand. Thus, the company reports on setting up a manufacturing facility in Enfield, Connecticut, USA. Eppendorf will upgrade the existing buildings and start the production of plastic consumables until the end of 2004.
Since 1998, Eppendorf has manufactured bioreagents in Boulder, Colorado. The new plant on the East coast will allow for additional growth in the Life Sciences segment and reflects the importance and requirements of the U.S. market. The choice of Connecticut was supported by the existence of the so-called "plastic corridor" which provides excellent conditions for industrial manufacturing of high quality consumables.
"Enfield makes a perfect fit for Eppendorf, because our requirements were met to a high degree", Klaus Fink, CEO of Eppendorf AG, explains. "Strategically, our targets include vicinity to our markets, logistical advantages as well as reduced corporate exposure to currency exchange rates."
