Laser Diffraction and Dynamic Image Analysis with SYNC and CAMSIZER systems
The Microtrac SYNC and CAMSIZER systems provide complementary solutions for comprehensive particle size and shape characterization in laboratory environments. Together, they cover a broad spectrum of materials, size ranges, and analytical requirements for quality control and research and development.
SYNC combines laser diffraction and dynamic image analysis within a single optical bench, enabling synchronous measurement of particle size distributions and particle shape information from the same sample and the same measurement cell. Laser diffraction delivers precise size distributions over a wide measuring range, offering great flexibility, while the integrated camera records images of individual particles. This allows users to evaluate particle morphology, verify proper dispersion, detect agglomerates, and identify coarse or fine outliers that cannot be recognized using laser diffraction alone.
CAMSIZER systems are based on dynamic, high-speed image analysis of granular and powdered bulk solids as well as suspensions. Using advanced camera technology and automated image evaluation, CAMSIZER analyzes tens of thousands to millions of particles per measurement, providing statistically robust particle size and shape data within short measurement times. Dual-camera configurations enable reliable measurement across a wide size range from the micrometer to the millimeter scale without any hardware changes.
Both SYNC and CAMSIZER provide detailed particle shape parameters such as aspect ratio, roundness, and sphericity, enabling a more differentiated assessment of materials compared to purely size-based methods. While SYNC supports both wet and dry dispersion for measuring samples in their native state, most CAMSIZERs are used for high-throughput dry analysis in quality control and process monitoring.
The systems are supported by intuitive, user-friendly software solutions that facilitate method development, standardized measurements, result comparison, particle visualization, and automated report generation. Robust industrial-grade design and low maintenance requirements ensure reliable long-term operation and a low total cost of ownership.
Together, SYNC and CAMSIZER form a versatile product portfolio for precise, reliable, and application-oriented particle size and shape analysis across a wide range of laboratory applications.
