Jim Manzi Named Chairman of Thermo Fisher Scientific
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. announced that Jim Manzi, a member of the company's board of directors, has been named non-executive chairman of the board. Mr. Manzi assumes the role previously held by Paul M. Meister, who retired as chairman on April 10, 2007.
Mr. Manzi previously served as the company's chairman from December 2003 through November 9, 2006, the closing date of the merger of Thermo Electron and Fisher Scientific, which created Thermo Fisher Scientific. He is currently chairman of Stonegate Capital, through which he manages his personal investments in technology start-up ventures in the U.S. and abroad. Previously, he was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lotus Development Corporation from 1984 until 1995, when the company was acquired by IBM.
