Analytik Jena Closes Acquisition of Bruker's ICP-MS Business and Begins Integration Process
Analytik Jena AG, a manufacturer of analytical measuring technology and life science instruments announced that it has closed the acquisition of the ICP-MS business of Bruker Corporation on September 12, 2014. The integration process has begun, and it is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.
"I am glad that we were able to make this acquisition a reality so quickly and on a fair basis together with Bruker. The transaction is of great strategic importance for Analytik Jena AG," said Klaus Berka, Chief Executive Officer of Analytik Jena AG. "Now the emphasis will be on integrating the team of employees from Bruker and the assets quickly and smoothly into our organization."
The ICP-MS business is set to be integrated, along with the products and technologies, patents, licensing rights, and research and development capacities acquired with it, as well as the former Bruker ICP-MS customer service business, into the Analytical Instrumentation business unit at Analytik Jena AG. Many ICP-MS employees around the world in sales, applications, service, research and development, including the ICP-MS chief developer, have accepted employment at Analytik Jena, or are expected to join Analytik Jena soon.
"The established ICP-MS products and technology of Bruker, and previously Varian Inc., has a very good reputation in the market. That attests to the expertise and dedication of the employees working in this business, as well as to the quality of their work. We want to expand on the existing potential and grow the ICP-MS business together with the new international team," said Torsten Olschewski, General Manager of the Analytical Instrumentation business unit at Analytik Jena AG.
With the acquisition of the ICP-MS business from Bruker, Analytik Jena can now offer its customers the entire portfolio of elemental trace spectrometry. This moves the Company one step closer to its three major competitors. Analytik Jena will present its new technology for the first time at a leading industrial exhibition in China, Analytica China, which will be held in Shanghai from September 24-29, 2014. In addition, Analytik Jena and its new ICP-MS Chief Developer will present at the SCIX 2014, the summit of the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) in Reno, Nevada in October.
