Tecan Spark® Motion

Spark^® Motion expands your live cell analysis capabilities with full walkaway automation. The system combines the Spark Cyto live cell imager and plate reader with a robotic arm and incubator to enable automated readout, imaging and analysis of multiple plates under controlled conditions over several days.

Full automation for maximum throughput

Automated cell incubation and analysis of up to 44 plates significantly increases your throughput. Multiplex analysis - for example, combining luminescence and imaging - provides additional insights and increases the reproducibility of your experiments. The patented Lid Lifter™ technology reliably protects plates outside the incubator and eliminates the need for expensive safety cabinets.

Comprehensive data through versatile detection modes

Spark Motion offers whole-well imaging of 96- and 384-well plates, enabling readout and imaging in the same experiment. Parallel image acquisition and data analysis ensures fast access to your results. The system supports highly flexible readout modes: absorbance, fluorescence (FP, TRF, TR-FRET), luminescence (single and multicolor) and Alpha Technology.

Powerful imaging functions for 2D and 3D cultures

The extensive imaging capabilities include fluorescence imaging in four channels (blue, green, red, far-red), Brightfield and digital phase contrast imaging as well as three magnifications (2x, 4x, 10x). The Z-stacking function enables three-dimensional analysis of spheroids and organoids. With AI-based algorithms, you can monitor cell growth and morphological changes in 2D and 3D cell populations label-free through whole-well analysis.

Application diversity for your research

Spark Motion is suitable for numerous applications: label-free 3D spheroid and organoid analysis, label-free cell counting, confluence determination, cell viability assays and cell death analysis. The system accelerates cell-based screening methods and enables high-throughput drug screening for rapid identification of promising therapeutic candidates. Capture cellular dynamics such as migration, proliferation and morphological changes in real time to gain biological insights.
