DSX Microscopes

Digital Measuring Microscopes for 3D Measurements and Complex Particle Analysis

Olympus Deutschland GmbH

Images in amazing accuracy – for microscopy beginners and experts alike

The Olympus DSX line of digital microscopes sets the standard for industrial microscopes. Thanks to advanced features and their well-arranged user interface, even newcomers to microscopy can record excellent images and reliable results straight away. Whether in routine industrial applications or quality assurance: Olympus’s DSX line is the ideal choice wherever convenience and precision matter in material science microscopy. The DSX digital microscopes guarantee precision because they are designed and engineered for accurate measurements.

The robust, highly rigid frame with a low center of gravity has been specially designed to absorb the impact of agitation. The software is also equipped with an anti-vibration function. Stable microscopic observations can thus be performed at screen magnifications of up to 9,000x.

Our solutions for challenging samples:

  • HDR and the proprietary image processing solution WiDER ensure in-focus images of even reflective, low-contrast sample surfaces that prove difficult for conventional light-optical microscopes
  • No narrowed field of view at high magnifications but an overview of the entire sample - even in 3-D - thanks to the panoramic view function
  • Clear in-focus images even of uneven surfaces thanks to the "Extended Focal Image" feature
  • High-detail 3-D images for measurements of height differences and volumes allow the analysis of the entire sample

Our digital microscopes for unprecedented ease-of-use

With the DSX line models, no operation modes need to be set. The microscope automatically proposes several possible images in a variety of observation modes. All the operator has to do is select the optimal image.

Even if multiple operators use the microscope, repeatability is not an issue because with the capture of an image the observation method, the stage coordinates and other parameters are recorded as well. All image capture parameters can be recalled with one simple click, enabling inspection and measurement methods to be used again.

With the DSX microscopes, there’s no changing of lenses or the camera. Aperture stop and illumination settings as well as the insertion of special filters are automatically optimized so that anyone, whether beginner or expert, can carry out the microscopic analyzes they need.

Advanced optics for high-resolution images guarantee precise measurements

The DSX’s objective lenses bring together high NA, long working distances and an unsurpassed evenness of light intensity. Glare is reduced to a minimum, flare and distortion are eliminated and colors are shown how they actually are.

The DSX uses the same telecentric optics as measuring instruments, thereby avoiding deviation in measurement results. Even if the point of focus is changed, the size of the observation target remains unchanged. Consequently, this guarantees the accuracy and repeatability of magnification in the XY direction, with measurement accuracy at ± 3% and measurement result repeatability at 3 n-1 = ± 2%.

Features for optimal measurement results: 3-D measurement and particle analysis

All common measurement methods in material science microscopy are standard features of the DSX software. This makes it easy to achieve optimal measurement results. In addition, an optional software for 3-D measurement, coating thickness determination and particle analysis is available.
