pH value, conductivity, acid-base capacity, permanganate index PMI without manual sample measurement

The OMNIS SAMPLE ROBOT enables the fully automatic measurement of the water samples to be examined.Time-consuming manual work is no longer necessary.

Only a cup filled with a minimum volume will be provided. From the sample rack, this cup is brought to the workstation with the OMNIS robotic arm. There, the required sample volume for titration is measured by leveling. At the same time, the electrical conductivity in the flow is measured.

Determination of pH value and acid/base capacity: After leveling, the pH electrode and the burette tip are immersed in the sample at the workstation. pH measurement is carried out, followed by titration for acid or base capacity.

The exposure of the samples to the ambient air is very problematic for the base capacity. During the waiting time until the analysis, no exchange with the CO2 of the ambient air must take place. OMNIS offers the option of capping the samples. Shortly before the sample is dimensioned, the cover is removed and analysis is started immediately.

The determination of the permanganate index, PMI value, in water samples can be carried out efficiently with an automation system. Fast and precise determination in accordance with EN ISO 8467 is possible. For this determination, it is necessary to heat the stabilized water sample to 95 °C and higher for a certain period of time. Subsequently, the amount of permanganate present in excess after the reaction with the sample is determined titrimetrically. This step of sample preparation requires significant manual effort. The complete automation of all sample preparation steps and analysis also significantly increases productivity in the laboratory.
