2010 Medical Design Excellence Award for bioMérieux’s PREVI Isola

23-Apr-2010 - France

bioMérieux has been presented with an exclusive 2010 Medical Design Excellence Award for its PREVI Isola, highlighting the automated media streaker’s technology. The award was based on the PREVI Isola’s design and engineering features, including innovative use of materials, improvements to healthcare delivery, and the ability of the product development team to overcome design and engineering challenges to better meet clinical objectives.

The fully automated system is capable of processing up to 300 plates per hour, standardising routine agar plate inoculation and offering fast turnaround times with improved traceability. Colony isolation is maximised and cross-contamination eliminated, streamlining laboratory workflows to save time and free staff for other tasks.

bioMérieux’s Chief Executive Officer, Stéphane Bancel, said “bioMérieux is proud to see the PREVI Isola recognised by this prestigious award. I would like to thank our partners at LBT Innovations and Invetech, and our teams at bioMérieux, for making it possible for us to bring this visionary solution to our customers. As the World leader in microbiology, bioMérieux is driving microbiology lab automation, with new systems and IT solutions for rapid time to results, ensuring rapid time to therapy for patients. Our goal is to transform microbiology to better serve our customers, clinicians and their patients.”
