CANTEST announces acquisition of Vizon SciTec Inc.
The transaction follows in the footsteps of CANTEST's acquisition of Elemental Research, Inc. (ERI), a specialty analytical laboratory, in April and the announcement of a $9.5 Million expansion plan for the company's Burnaby facilities in June.
"The acquisition of Vizon SciTec allows us to enhance the scope of our services by adding depth in the areas of toxicology, acid rock drainage, extractive metallurgy and process/general chemistry. Furthermore, the combined expertise of the two organizations can now be deployed to better service clients in the industrial and drug development sectors who, for example, have an interest in the ecological fate of their chemical entities," explains Don Enns, CANTEST's President & CEO.
Operations of the two companies will be consolidated at CANTEST's Life Sciences Centre in Burnaby in early 2007. Vizon's Occupational Health and Ship Dynamics divisions will be excluded from the acquisition. Future plans for the two groups include collaboration with other stakeholders on the development and commercialization of advanced process technology.
