Kinetex – UHPLC on any LC-System

The narrow particle size distribution allows for packing HPLC columns with uniform and highly dense column beds.

Influence of the column bed on the Eddy-Diffusion.

Kinetex 1,7 µm Particle

Kinetex 2,6 µm Particle

Kinetex Core-Shell HPLC columns have been designed by Phenomenex to provide all HPLC users with UHPLC performance, independent from the systems they are currently using.

Phenomenex has developed the particles in such a way as to minimize effects like Eddy diffusion and slow mass transfer instead of just sizing existing particles down. These developments resulted in Kinetex core-shell particles. These particles consist of a non porous silica core and a porous silica layer. Kinetex comes in two different particle sizes with particle diameters of 2.6 µm and 1.7 µm. The 2.6 µm Kinetex core-shell particle has a non porous core with a diameter of 1.9 µm and a porous layer with a thickness of 0.35 µm. The thin porous layer improves the mass transfer of the analytes significantly. The specific manufacturing process of Kinetex results in a product with a very narrow particle size distribution. This homogeneous particle size distribution allows packing columns with a uniform column bed and a high packing density which show a significant lower band broadening of the peaks related to Eddy diffusion. The Kinetex 2.6 µm columns give efficiencies of sub 2 µm fully porous materials at backpressures within the pressure limits of 400 bar standard HPLC systems.

You benefit from:

  • Increased sample throughput
  • Time savings and solvent savings
  • Easy transfer of methods

Kinetex core-shell columns are available in five different selectivities to give users the possibility to choose the phase according to the requirements of their specific method.

The Phenomenex websiteoffers a large variety of applications to help customers optimize their existing routine methods – including EP-methods and USP methods– and new methods for ultra-high performance and sample throughput. The site also includes detailed information onhow to optimize HPLC systems to benefit from all the advantages of Kinetex.
