Fluorotechnics appoints European biotech veteran Lars Utterman as non-executive director

Fluorotechnics Limited has appointed Lars Utterman as a non-executive director. Mr Utterman has over 30 years sales and general management experience with biotechnology companies. Currently, he is CEO of German-based IonGate Biosciences, a company specialising in developing systems for transporter protein measurements in drug discovery. Mr Utterman is also Chairman of Cellectricon AB, Gyros AB and Ludesi AB, all in Sweden. He is also a member of the board of LIVC Technologies GmbH in Germany.

Most of Mr Utterman’s career has been with Pharmacia/Amersham Biosciences/GE Healthcare. He started with Pharmacia in 1981 and by 2004 was Vice President Commercial Initiatives. From 2001 to 2002 he was in charge of the Proteomics business and for many years was responsible for managing European sales.

Mr Utterman has lived and worked in five countries including Germany, the USA and his native Sweden. His skills also include business development, licensing negotiation, collaboration, distribution, divestments and acquisitions. His qualifications include Master of Science in chemical technology, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, B.A. in Business Administration, Stockholm University, and graduated with honours (M.Sc. and B.A.). Mr Utterman is based in Germany.
