Looking for a job in chemical laboratory

I am a Thai female and will live in Switzerland soon. I speak and write Thai and English and started to learn German in intensive course. I am looking for a job in a chemical laboratory, starting in the beginning of next year (2009) or after agreement. For my working place, I would prefer the vicinity of Basel (but not exclusively). I finished my Master of Science from Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. For two years I have been working in cultivation of fungi followed by separation and purification of their secondary metabolites. After that I started to study for Master in Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Phytochemistry, which I finished with the grade of "very good". I know how to cultivate and grow microorganisms and extract their secondary metabolites with different extraction methods. I’m also very skilled in isolation, purification and structure elucidation of the compounds, using chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. I used to work with different analytical and preparative HPLC- and GC-instruments, digital polarimeter, UV-Vis-, FT-IR-, and NMR-spectrometers. I also learned about titration, evaporation, documenting of experiments and all other common lab-techniques. I am very motivated to take the challenge of a new position and learn everything to succeed very well in my future job.

My last work was my thesis with the title: CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF THE WOOD-DECAY FUNGI HYPOCREA SP. BCC 14122 AND XYLARIA SP. BCC 23304
This study aimed to isolate and identify bioactive compounds from fungi. Two wood-decay fungi, Hypocrea sp. and Xylaria sp. were selected based on NMR profile and biological activities in the primary bioassay screening of crude extracts. Chemical investigation of the first fungus led to the isolation of six compounds, a known gentisaldehyde antibiotic, aurocitrin, together with five new compounds. The other fungi produced three known toxic compounds which are dechlorogriseofulvin, griseofulvin, and cytochalasin D. The structures of all isolated compounds were elucidated by UV, IR, MS, and NMR spectroscopic data. Some compounds displayed strong activity against cancer cell-lines. However, all these compounds also showed cytotoxicity to noncancerous Vero cells. Some compounds also showed antimalarial activity. This work was done in one year at National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) in Thailand. |
